Join the Peace Vigil on ANZAC Day, Saturday 25th April at 12 noon through till 1.00pm, Church Steps, Trafalgar Street, Whakatu Nelson.

On ANZAC Day we recognise the tremendous loss of life of combatants, non-combatants and animals, and the degradation of the environment caused by war. This year you may be more aware than ever of the danger posed by those eager for war, glorifying war, and of the suffering of those who are enduring war. Please join us to show your solidarity with those yearning for peace, security, and the chance of a normal life. Honour the war dead by ending war.

You don't have to be a Quaker to join the peace vigil, just someone who longs for an end to endless war and warmongering, and for peace. You are welcome here.

Every Saturday morning from October 2023, at 1903 Square and various other locations, people rallied in support of the people of Gaza and against the bombing, blockade, and killing of Palestinian children, women and men by Israeli military forces.  Now each week there are rallies, letter writing events addressing the PM and Foreign Affairs Minister, or other events calling for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian assistance for the people in Gaza.  Sign up for weekly email at palestinenelson@gmail.com
